When you buy a computer, little do you realize that the 320 GB or 500 GB hard drive, which seems monstrous in the beginning, would one day fall short and you will need additional storage devices. You buy CD and DVD packs to transfer media files into them and also use a pen drive to carry data and to download files from it on to your computer. Finally, when the data becomes too much to handle, you keep a hard drive next to your computer and connect it with your computer to make use of data in the drive. But you disliked the wires and the paraphernalia that comes along with these wires. Now there is available wireless hard drive that you can use to keep data inside without having to connect it with your computer.

You can make use of these Wi-drives without the need to connect them to the USB port in your computer and download songs or word files to your computer or into a mobile gadget without a tangle of wires. One can share data in the wireless drive to three other portable devices at the same time. Wireless hard drives also give you access to gigabytes of data from any location.

Windows 7 was launched with much fanfare by Microsoft in 2010as the latest and perhaps the best OS yet by the software giant. However, Windows XP, despite being an older OS continues to be the most dominant OS worldwide. It has been 10 years since XP was launched but there are no signs of people giving it up though many have switched over to Windows 7. The year 2012 will be a decisive year for both XP and Windows 7. The year 2011 ended with share of XP dropping to 46% of the total market share. Though this is still very impressive considering it is a decade old product, one has to realize that XP started the year with 55% market hare. During the year, this market share fell with every month. On the other hand, Windows 7 started the year with a market share of 22% and ended with a bang with a market share of 37%. Windows Vista was a distant third I the race with the OS dropping from 11% market share at the beginning of 2011 and ending at just 8%.

Microsoft has been trying desperately to convince companies around the world to switch to its latest OS Windows 7 and has even declared that it will withdraw support to XP by 2014.

Google+ that was introduced with much fanfare by the search engine giant Google to the world as a substitute for social networking leader Facebook was last reported as tapering off after initial burst and enthusiasm shown by people to join it. Google+ reached 10 million mark in just two weeks but then took nearly three months to reach 40 million users, a statistics that made experts doubtful of its success and some even predicted the burst of the bubble called Google+. The social networking attempt by Google has already crossed 60 million mark, and if we go by the prediction of Paul Allen, founder of Ancestry.com, there is every chance that by the end of 2012, Google+ may have more than 400 million users.

Paul is unable to pinpoint the reason and says that it could be endorsement by celebrities, holidays (Christmas and New Year), or just word of mouth or a combination of all three factors. The fact is that the popularity of Google+ is increasing day by day and it is adding nearly 6,25,000 members every day. This rate means around 300 million users by the end of the year but there could be acceleration meaning more than 400 million users by 2012 end.

We all love Dropbox for the simplicity and convenience it brings to life, don’t we? It is a cloud storage app that allows us to share all our digital media files and other files across various computers that we use without the need to carry data along with us. It is a free service that makes storing your files an easy job and you also retrieve it from anywhere. Dropbox is working on a brand new idea that, once implemented, will allow; rather enable Dropbox to import photos and videos from your digital camera without you having to manually upload them to this cloud storage app. You will just connect your digital camera to your computer and Dropbox will slurp all photos and videos from it. These files will then go to various Dropbox servers from where they can be accessed by all computers that are connected with this app.

There are already dissent voices being heard. There are some people who say that they click far too many photos and do not want all of these photos to be uploaded as they will consume the entire space that is allotted to them by Dropbox. In any case, it sure is a great idea as it secures some family photos that otherwise either get deleted or are hard to retrieve at the right moment.
